What We Customize
Why specify custom gas struts by size & force
-
Gas springs by size
Tailor stroke travel from 10 mm to 500 mm and cylinder lengths from compact 65 mm mini tubes up to 950 mm long-stroke struts.
-
Adjustable & variable force
Precision nitrogen charging from 15 N to 2000 N. Request stepped prototype forces or low spring-rate (F2/F1) ratios using double-tube bodies.
-
5 locking & lift actions
Choose non-locking lift support, cushioned elastic locking, extension rigid locking, or single/double-tube compression rigid oil locking.
-
Custom damping & hardware
Tune extension speed, end-of-stroke hydraulic cushioning, surface finish colour, and direct pin or remote Bowden cable release heads.

Gas springs by size, stroke & force specifications
Compare our five core product architectures below to see what we can custom manufacture for your project, then send your target numbers in the configurator.
| Custom Series / Type | Stroke & Force Range | Rod, Tube & Application Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Elastic Lockable Gas Spring | Stroke: 10–500 mm · Force: 50–1000 N | 10 mm rod; 22–28 mm outer tube (90–700 mm B1). Locks with cushioned elasticity in both directions; ideal for seating & backrests (view elastic series). |
| Tension Rigid Lockable Strut | Stroke: 10–500 mm · Force: 50–1250 N | 8 mm or 10 mm rod; 22–28 mm outer tube (90–700 mm B1). High rigid resistance to pulling loads when locked in extension (view extension lock series). |
| Compression Rigid Lock (Single Tube) | Stroke: 20–350 mm · Force: 50–500 N | 10 mm rod; 22–28 mm outer tube (90–650 mm B1). Floating separating piston oil lock stays rock-solid under downward loads on standing desks & tables (view single-tube series). |
| Compression Rigid Lock (Double Tube) | Stroke: 50–500 mm · Force: 70–450 N | 8 mm or 10 mm rod; 28–30 mm outer tube (150–700 mm B1). Twin-tube design delivers a longer stroke from a compact cylinder for hospital beds & medical furniture (view double-tube series). |
| Compression Gas Spring (Support Rod) | Stroke: 40–450 mm · Force: 15–2000 N | 4 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm or 12 mm rod; 12–28 mm outer tube (65–950 mm B1). Non-locking steady lift support for automotive hoods, trunks, cabinets & heavy machinery guards (view support rod series). |
| Piston Rod & Tube Finishes | 5 custom surface treatments | Black, silver grey, white, bright chrome and light grey corrosion-resistant finishes for exposed or enclosed frames. |
| End Fittings & Mounts | Single-ear, double-ear, pull-switch | High-strength metal or lightweight plastic connectors threaded to M6, M8 or M10; see all gas spring end fittings. |
| Release Actuation (Locking Models) | Direct pin or remote cable lever | Unlock locally with a lever bar or route a flexible Bowden cable to an under-desk paddle, hand lever or push-button. |
How do I specify custom gas springs or gas struts by size?
Use our custom gas spring configurator form below to send your required stroke length (S), extended length (B) or outer tube length (B1), extension force (F1 in Newtons), locking action and end fittings. If you are still at the early gas spring design stage, simply share your lid, seat or platform weight and mounting geometry and our engineers will size the unit for you.
Can you supply an adjustable force gas spring or variable force gas spring for prototyping?
Yes. We custom charge every cylinder to your exact force between 15 N and 2000 N, and we can supply prototype samples at stepped or adjustable force ratings so your engineering team can test and dial in the exact counterbalance feel on your rig before locking in production.
What types of locking and non-locking mechanisms can you custom build?
We manufacture five core architectures to order: standard non-locking compression gas springs for lids and hoods, elastic lockable gas springs that lock with cushioned give in both directions, extension rigid locking gas struts that resist pulling loads, and single-tube or double-tube rigid locking gas springs that stay rock-solid under downward loads.
Can you match an existing sample, CAD drawing or competitor part number?
Absolutely. Send us your 2D/3D CAD drawing, physical sample or existing part specification. We will match the stroke, extended length, rod/tube profile, force progression curve (F1/F2), surface finish and mounting brackets.
What rod diameters, tube finishes and end fittings are available?
Depending on the series and load, you can specify 4 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm or 12 mm piston rods, paired with outer tubes from 12 mm to 30 mm. Finishes include black, silver grey, white, bright chrome and light grey, with metal or plastic single-ear, double-ear and pull-switch cable fittings shown on our end fittings page.
What if I do not know the exact Newton force (F1) my application needs?
Simply leave the force field blank in our quote form and tell us the weight of your moving panel, its centre of gravity and the hinge pivot distances. Our engineering team will work out the required force and recommend the ideal rod and tube combination for your mechanism.
