Pick the Industrial Spring by How the Load Moves

Ask two questions: does the cover push open, pull closed, or lock at mid-stroke? The answers point to one of five industrial gas spring series.

Inside the Cylinder

Nitrogen Lifts and Oil Controls

Every Newton heavy duty gas spring is charged with high-purity nitrogen to deliver smooth, repeatable lift force up to 2,000 N. Internal hydraulic oil governs how that force behaves: in NTZ hydraulic gas struts it acts as a velocity brake at the end of travel so heavy steel guards never slam hinges, while in NTA and NTB locking struts it locks the piston rod rigid under workstation loads. Need pull-in force instead? Our tension gas springs reverse the internal seal arrangement so the rod retracts smoothly.

Built for Harsh Duty Cycles: From sub-zero outdoor utility vaults to high-cycle automated production lines and washdown zones, we calibrate gas charge, rod finish, and multi-lip seals for long service life.

Make It Yours

Sized, Finished and Fitted to Your Machine

Once the series is selected, custom dimensions make it fit your frame and hinge geometry. Rods run from 0.16 to 0.47 in (4 to 12 mm), and cylinders from 2.4 to 25.6 in (60 to 650 mm) long.

How We Work

From First Sample to OEM Production

Three straightforward steps from your machine guard or hatch CAD drawing to 100% force-tested production batches.

  1. Share Your Envelope

Send a CAD file, drawing, or sample part number with door weight, center of gravity, and pivot coordinates.

  2. Validate Prototype Samples

We build custom prototype samples to your exact Newton force, stroke, and damping spec for cycle testing.

  3. Scale to Industrial OEM Supply

Every production batch is 100% force-verified so every shipment matches your approved master sample.

FAQs

Questions Industrial Engineers Ask

Still unsure? Email info@newtonmatic.com

When should I use a tension gas spring instead of a compression gas strut?

Standard compression industrial gas struts push outward to lift doors and hoods open. Tension gas springs work in reverse: the rod is retracted at rest and pulls inward to assist closing or to support drop-down chutes and hopper flaps where mounting space behind the hinge is limited.

Do you offer stainless steel gas springs for washdown or outdoor environments?

Yes. We supply corrosion-resistant stainless steel gas springs and heavy duty gas struts with treated rods and seals built for food processing washdowns, marine hatches, chemical plants, and outdoor utility enclosures.

How do you size a heavy duty gas strut for a machinery guard or roof hatch?

Send us the door or guard weight, center of gravity distance from the hinge, opening angle, and mounting space. Our engineers calculate the exact F1 Newton rating and damping profile so the cover lifts smoothly and stays safely open.

How fast can industrial equipment OEMs get prototype samples?

We confirm prototype lead times with your quote. Every sample is built to your full force, stroke, and end-fitting specification, or reverse-engineered to replace an existing industrial gas strut.
