Where We Fit

One Aircraft Cabin, Five Ways to Move

Every passenger seat, stowage bin, and fuselage door moves under distinct loads. Here is where each aerospace gas strut and aircraft interior locking gas spring does the work.

Pick the Aviation Spring by How the Part Moves

Ask two questions: should it lock in position, and which way does the passenger or door load push? The answers point to one of five aerospace gas spring series.

Cutaway showing nitrogen gas and hydraulic oil chambers inside a Newton aerospace gas spring

Inside the Cylinder

Nitrogen Lifts and Oil Controls

Every Newton aviation gas spring is charged with high-purity nitrogen to deliver smooth, repeatable extension force. Internal hydraulic oil governs how that force behaves: in NTZ overhead bin gas struts it acts as a quiet end-of-travel brake, while in NTA and NTB aircraft interior locking gas springs it locks the piston rod rigid. NTG holds against compressed nitrogen instead, giving passenger seatbacks a gentle, cushioned feel during turbulence.

Engineered for Flight Profiles: From sub-zero tarmac turnarounds to pressurized cabin cruise, we calibrate gas charge and seal geometry so every aerospace gas strut performs consistently across thousands of flight cycles.

Make It Yours

Sized, Finished and Fitted to Your Envelope

Once the series is selected, custom dimensions make it fit tight seat frames and fuselage envelopes. Rods run from 0.16 to 0.47 in (4 to 12 mm), and cylinders from 2.4 to 25.6 in (60 to 650 mm) long.

Newton aerospace gas springs in black, chrome, silver gray, white and light gray finishes

Corrosion-Resistant Finishes

Black and Chrome on every series, plus Silver Gray, White, and Light Gray to match cabin trim.

Precision metal single-ear eyelets and double-ear clevis end fittings for aircraft gas struts

Custom Aviation End Fittings

Single-ear eyelets for compact seat linkages, or double-ear clevis fittings for overhead bins and doors.

Pull-switch cable release actuator connected to an armrest seat recline button

Cable Release Actuators

Low-effort Bowden cable and lever release heads let armrest buttons unlock seat springs smoothly.

How We Work

From First Sample to OEM Production

Three straightforward steps from your aircraft seat or cabin interior CAD model to force-tested production batches.

  1. Share Your Envelope

Send a CAD file, drawing, or part number with component weight, center of gravity, and pivot coordinates.

  2. Validate Prototype Samples

We build custom prototype samples to your exact Newton force, stroke, and release spec for rig testing.

  3. Scale to Aviation OEM Supply

Every production batch is 100% force-verified so every shipset matches your approved master sample.

FAQs

Questions Aviation Engineers Ask

Still unsure? Email info@newtonmatic.com

NTG, NTA or NTB: which aircraft seat locking gas spring do I need?

NTG provides a cushioned elastic lock ideal for passenger and crew seat recline. NTA locks rigid against extension forces on lie-flat beds and fold-down tables, while NTB locks rigid against compression loads on adjustable calf rests and leg rests.

How do overhead bin gas struts prevent cabin doors from slamming?

Our NTZ overhead bin gas struts use calibrated internal hydraulic oil damping to slow the final degrees of opening and closing travel, protecting hinges and keeping stowage compartments quiet.

How do you size an aircraft cabin door gas strut or seat spring?

Send us your door or seat back weight, center of gravity, and hinge coordinates. Our engineers calculate the exact F1 force and verify performance across cold ground operations and pressurized cabin temperatures.

How fast can aviation OEMs get prototype samples?

We confirm prototype lead times with your quote. Every sample is built to your full force, stroke, and end-fitting specification, or reverse-engineered to match an existing aircraft strut.
